Barking at the moon from the heart of middle Canada, White Dog’s Chris Jacques doubles as the co-founder of Prairie Fire Tapes and its off branch Dub Ditch Picnic. This four-song c30 is the latest ear-clot from his ambient/drone project, and finds Jacques in a meditative mood while maintaining trademark murk. Following three storm and stress instrumental creepers, the clear culmination is closer “A Forest”. Here, haunted vocal samples sink into plaintive acoustic plucks, mystical wind chimes and ominous horror movie hums for a spirit animal ceremony that’s both mesmerizing and mysterious.

White Dog is an extreme murk-drone machine helmed by Chris Jacques, one of the operators of the Prairie Fire Tapes imprint. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, which he refers to as “one of the grimmest places in North America,” Jacques creates decayed, mildew-covered drones that submerge themselves in the subconscious, exposing raw fear and other nasty emotions.

This cassette is a blown-out feast for ye who hunger for all things drone. “MOVE 1978” comprises the entirety of side A and features an audio recording of a police attack on the MOVE Organization, a black radical group from Philadelphia. The voices are almost entirely obfuscated by the thick sludge of mutant sound that accompanies them. The flip side, “No Voice,” is a remix of the backing drone from the other side. Here, Jacques ramps up the unholiness of the source material to indescribable proportions. This is seriously frightening stuff! 7/10 -- Bryon Hayes (28 April, 2010

In addition to being part owner/operator of Prairie Fire Tapes, I've also decided to extend a cost effective service to other artists who want to release cassettes but don't have the time/energy/cash to get it all done.

I'll be running Dub Ditch Duplication.

Small runs - as low as 10 copies to a few hundred if that's what you need. Options are high speed mono, high speed stereo, or realtime stereo duplication. I supply :

• Quick Turnaround

You costs = price of tapes (including master), cases, shipping, taxes + $25 - small runs/short tapes (larger runs/longer tapes/ real time - - gets a quote) for duplication.
